Luise Kimme - Sculptor , Artist - Capturing the essence of our people

Luise Kimme was born in Bremen, Germany.

She has lived near the village of Bethel, Tobago since 1979 where she has her studio and the Luise Kimme Sculpture Museum.

Her Sculpture Museum, locally called "The Castle", overlooks the Mt. Irvine Golf Course with view of the Caribbean Sea.

Her distinctive Caribbean sculptures are created from whole tree trunks of native wood often making use of the natural shape of trees and limbs.

Several of her works have been transformed into bronze and displayed in public places.

We visited with Luise in 2006 and found her receptive and welcoming. Many of her ‘pieces’ were on display and a few are featured here.

However a Sunday visit to her museum is recommended.
